Description

No. 33 Thackley Road, dating from approximately 1830 to 1840, was likely built as a residence for a mill owner. It is a two-storey house facing south-east with three bays. The exterior is constructed of sandstone “brick” with a stone slate roof, featuring spaced dentil brackets along the eaves. The front elevation includes three two-light square mullion windows; three corniced chimneys are situated above the eaves. The windows have 19th-century plate glass sashes, thin ashlar lintels, and block sills. A pilastered doorway is topped by an entablature, and a moulded stone eaves cornice runs along this front. The gable ends feature round-headed windows at their centres. The building is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
