Description
Cross Daggers Restaurant, formerly known as The Cross Daggers Public House, is located in the Market Place of Woodhouse, Sheffield. This building dates back to 1658, with early 19th century and late 20th century additions and alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and features artificial stone slate roofs, complemented by three brick gable stacks. The structure has a plinth, quoins, a first floor band, and coped gables with kneelers.
The building is two storeys high and has a two-window range in an L-plan layout. It features two 15-pane sash windows with wooden lintels. The central doorway is flanked by long and short quoins and has a heavy lintel inscribed with "N (reversed) T G 1658". On either side of the doorway, there are 16-pane sash windows with projecting corniced stone surrounds. In front of the windows, there is a short length of wrought-iron railing supported by four flat stone piers. The right return of the building has a small lean-to projection. At the rear, a two-storey wing has two 3-light glazing bar casements on each floor, each with stone surrounds. The interior has not been inspected.
