Description

Abbeydale Hall, now known as the Abbeydale Centre, is a house that has been converted into an education centre. It was built in the mid to late 19th century and features coursed squared stone and ashlar with a slate roof. The building is designed in a castellated style and has a gable stack with four octagonal shafts, a similar triple side wall stack, and a single gable stack.

The exterior includes a chamfered plinth and string courses, an eaves band, and a parapet. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The central window is a two-light window, flanked by a three-light window on the left and a four-light window on the right, all featuring label moulds. The windows are stone mullioned casements.

There is a parapeted square porch with a Tudor arched doorway, which is flanked on the left by a three-light window with a label mould and on the right by a canted stone bay window with three lights. To the right of the porch, there is a two-storey addition that matches the main building's style, complete with a crenellated parapet and two two-light windows on each floor.

On the garden front to the left, there is an off-centre square tower with three stages and a crenellated parapet, along with a higher crenellated turret at the rear. This side features a single transomed window and above it, a cross-mullioned window with a balcony and label mould. Below, to the left, is a four-centred arched doorway with a traceried glazed door. To the right, there is a set-back range with a single window, and two two-light windows on each floor, the upper one having a balcony.

To the left, there is a projecting gabled block that is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The central window is a three-light window flanked by single two-light windows, all with label moulds. Below, there is a large canted parapeted bay window featuring a three-light cross casement flanked by single two-light windows. At the rear of the building, there is a canted crenellated two-storey bay window with three cross casements on each floor.
