Description

The building comprises a mid-17th century vicarage, now a parish centre, along with an adjoining stable range, a pigeoncote, and a boundary wall. It was refaced in the early 18th century, remodelled in the early 19th century, and has undergone 19th and late 20th century additions and alterations. The construction is of coursed squared stone and brick, with internal timber framing remains, ashlar dressings, and hipped and gabled slate roofs, topped by six 19th-century coped stone ridge stacks.

The main building is two storeys high with a six-window front, arranged in a 1:4:1 pattern. The recessed central block is flanked by shallow pedimented wings, the left one being wider. The centre features four 12-pane sashes and a 20th-century six-panel door with overlight, flanked to the right by a 19th-century French window. A 12-pane sash is positioned on either side. All openings have stone surrounds. The wings have a single 12-pane sash on each floor, with the lower left one larger, all set within sillbands. The right return has five 12-pane sashes and three similar windows below, which have keystone lintels. A large, late 19th-century canted stone bay window with a pierced coped parapet stands to the right of these windows. A stone boundary wall extends to the churchyard, with flat coping and two doorways on the left side. The left return has a mid-20th century single-story addition linking it to the stable range. The rear displays two coped gables.

The stable range, dating to around 1800, is constructed of coursed squared stone with a slate roof and coped gable. It has two storeys and a six-window front. A small, off-centre through-eaves gable features a renewed round window, flanked by two small 6-pane windows on the left and three on the right, with the rightmost one being late 20th century. Above the carriage opening, which has a keystone and double board doors, is a pigeoncote with restored brick nest boxes. The interior of the parish centre includes an entrance hall with a cantilever stone staircase featuring landings and wrought-iron balusters, illuminated by a rooflight with a moulded cornice. There are moulded six-panel doors, one of which is curved. A front ground floor room displays a fielded panelled dado, moulded cornice, and span beams, along with an eared and shouldered wooden fireplace with a basket grate. A central passage is characterised by an exposed bay post. A first floor rear room contains an exposed pole and rush partition. The stable range interior has an altered principal rafter roof.

The parish centre was previously listed in 1973, while the stable range, pigeoncote, and wall are new additions to the register.
