Description
Stumperlowe Cottage and the adjoining barn, now functioning as a house, date from the late 17th century and have undergone alterations in the 19th century, with the barn's exterior rebuilt in 1990. The structure features coursed rubble, with the house rendered and color-washed, and includes internal crucks. It has a continuous stone slate roof and a single brick gable stack.
The building is a single storey plus attics. The house, located on the left, has a central 20th-century door with a stone lintel. To the left of the door is a 19th-century three-light casement window, and to the right is a three-light chamfered mullioned window. Above, there is a 19th-century through-eaves box dormer on the left and a small three-light chamfered mullioned window on the right. The left side of the house features a blocked door and a nine-pane casement window. The barn has a French window flanked by two single two-light casements, with a porch and another two-light casement to the right, all added in 1990.
Inside the house, there are a pair of crucks on the right with a tie beam, and on the left, the feet of another pair of crucks. The barn contains two pairs of crucks with collars and tie beams, a single purlin roof, and four wind braces, some of which have been renewed.
