Description
This is a sewer gas lamp located on School Road in Crookes, Sheffield, opposite the junction with Glebe Road. It dates from the late 19th century and was made by the Webb Lamp Company. The lamp is constructed from cast iron and painted green. It features a conical shape with a domed cap, supported by curved brackets at the top of a fluted round column that has a bulged foot and ladder rests. The lamp stands on a round pedestal with a plinth, and there are moulded panels on opposite sides displaying the maker's name. At the time of the survey, the lamp was complete and in working condition.
