Description
Wadsley Almshouses are a group of six almshouses built around 1845, constructed from ashlar stone with slate roofs. They are designed in the Tudor Revival style and feature a chamfered plinth, stepped coped gables, and 20th-century two-light wooden casements with label moulds. The building is single storey and has nine bays arranged in an E-plan. The central gable projects forward and contains an elliptical arched entry, flanked by two blank sections and an inscribed tablet above. On either side of the central gable, there are smaller gabled porches with arched doorways, each accompanied by two windows. The end wings have small square bay windows, and each end features a gable with two casements. The interior has not been inspected.
