Description

A farmhouse, now divided into three dwellings, dating from the mid-18th century. Constructed of gritstone ashlar with a 20th-century tiled roof, the building has an L-shaped plan with a projecting wing to the rear right. It is two storeys high and comprises seven bays. The ground floor is marked by projecting quoin strips, while long and short quoins are above. There are three 20th-century doors, one within a bolection-moulded architrave with plinth blocks and cornice, another in a simple ashlar surround with plinth and impost blocks, and a third inserted into a window opening. A large 4-light casement window is situated in bay 7. The first floor is defined by a horizontal band. The windows are 20th-century casements, all set within projecting square-faced surrounds, except for the large casement in the ground floor of bay 7. Vertical strips connect the first-floor band with the windows above. A coved eaves course runs along the top of the building. A cruciform corniced ashlar stack sits in bay 3, and a rectangular corniced end stack is located to the right. A rear extension to the left is not considered to be of special interest.
