Description
The bridge and weir, located approximately 140 metres east of Firbeck Hospital, were built in the early 19th century for H. Gally Knight of Firbeck Hall. Constructed from ashlar limestone, the bridge features a single span with projecting voussoirs forming an elliptical arch that includes a double keystone. A band and coped parapet made of larger ashlar blocks slope down from the centre and curve outwards to end in rounded piers. The weir is integrated with the bridge and controls the water level of the lake, which serves as a key landscape feature in front of Firbeck Hospital.
