Description
This is a railway bridge built around 1849 for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, designed by engineer John Fowler. It is made of squared, coursed, rock-faced limestone with a brick soffit. The bridge features a single span that allows a farm track to pass underneath. It has an ashlar impost band supporting a round arch, with voussoirs that are aligned with the stone courses. The bridge is flanked by wide, battered buttresses. There is a rock-faced band and an ashlar band with a blocking course. The wing walls extend outward and end at low piers. At the time of the last survey, the bridge was undergoing repairs.
