Description
Aldwarke Bridge is a bridge built in the early 19th century, with a reconstruction dated 1834. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a single span. The bridge has quoined jambs leading to a rusticated segmental arch. The battered abutment walls curve outward and end at half-round piers. Below the parapet, there is a continuous stepped band made of large ashlar blocks, and a date plaque is carved on the west side. The parapet copings project only on the outer sides. The bridge spans the line of the Don Navigation, which has been recut in this area.
