Description

The mill chimney at Cantley Mill is a freestanding structure built for William Childers. It is made of red brick arranged in English garden wall bond. The chimney features a tall, square-sectioned plinth with battered sides and a plain ashlar band. The shaft tapers and becomes octagonal at the top, where it is reinforced with bolted iron bands. The date 'WC/1845' likely refers to the conversion of Cantley Mill to steam power.
