Description
This is a group of three chest tombs located approximately 6, 10, and 13 metres to the south-west of the porch of the Church of St. James. The tombs are dated 1773, 1727, and 1820 and are made of ashlar sandstone. The tomb nearest to the porch is dedicated to Sarah Hall, who died in 1773. It features a moulded plinth and square corner balusters that support an inscribed slab with a moulded edge. The second tomb, located 4 metres to the south, is for George Brook, who died in 1727. This tomb has a plinth, ribbed side panels, and a moulded edge on the inscribed slab. The third tomb, 2 metres further south, belongs to I. W. Graham, who died in 1820, among others. It has re-entrant corners with columns, oval panels on each side with foliate corner motifs, an inscription on the north side, and a weathered cover stone.
