Description
The war memorial, located at the junction with Church Grove, was built between 1921 and 1922 and is made of rock-faced Portland stone. It is designed in the shape of a Saxon cross, standing on a rectangular base with battered steps. The base is inscribed with the names of villagers who died during the Great War. Above the cross shaft, the inscription reads "The Great War 1914-1918," and features the Sword of Remembrance carved in shallow relief above it.
