Description

29 and 35 High Street are a pair of houses dating from the 17th century, with No 35 marked 'R E / 1667'. They are constructed from coursed rubble limestone and feature a stone slate eaves course beneath pantile roofs. The south front is two storeys high, with three windows on the first floor. No 35, which is larger and set forward on the right, has prominent large quoins and a doorway on the left that has a chamfered, quoined surround and a deep lintel. To the right of the doorway are two three-light double-chamfered mullioned windows, with similar two-light windows above and a single-light window over the door. There is a rebuilt brick ridge stack on the left.

At the rear of No 35, there is a doorway on the left with a chamfered, quoined surround and a dated lintel, flanked by single-light double-chamfered windows and later windows on the right. A blocked mid-height window on the right has an iron stanchion, and there are two double-chamfered two-light windows on the first floor. The right return of No 35 features a three-light double-chamfered mullioned window with a dripstone on the first floor and a blocked single-light gable window.

No 29, on the left, has windows with three, one, and three lights on the ground floor, and two, one, and two lights above. These were originally similar to those of No 35 but have been altered; it has a lower ridge and a brick end stack on the left.
