Description
Shaftholme House Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse located on the north side of Shaftholme Road in Bentley with Arksey. The building is constructed from rock-faced sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays, with a single-bay wing set back on the right side. The farmhouse has an ashlar plinth, although this is obscured by cement render on the lower front wall.
A central porch has been added, enclosing the original doorway, which features part-glazed double doors with facetted panels and trefoil-headed lights beneath a triangular head. The outer bays contain 20th-century casements set in chamfered, two-light mullioned surrounds with flattened-ogee heads. On the first floor, there is a band beneath similar windows, with the central window being narrower. The hipped roof has a deep eaves projection and two truncated stacks located at the centre.
The right wing of the farmhouse is blind and has a floor band and a hipped roof. At the rear, the main range has three 16-pane sash windows on the first floor. The left wing features a six-panel door.
