Description

Nos 5 and 5A on Castlegate are early to mid 18th century buildings constructed of whitewashed brick with a pantiled roof. They rise three storeys and feature brick bands and a brick modillion eaves cornice. The buildings are arranged in two bays, with cased flush-framed sashes and horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars on the second floors. No 5A includes a late 18th century square bowed shopfront that has a frieze, a moulded cornice, and contemporary glazing bars.
