Description
17 Market Place is a building from the late 18th century or early 19th century, and it is part of the same structure as the southern section of the Red Lion. The building features colour-washed brick and has a slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and has a brick cornice with modillions at the eaves. The façade consists of two bays, each containing sash windows with glazing bars and keystones. The entrance door has six fielded panels and is set within a chamfered ashlar surround that also includes a keystone. There is a 19th-century shop window, which is a very wide sash with glazing bars, framed by moulded panelled pilasters and topped with a moulded cornice.
