Description

The Red Lion Hotel is an 18th-century building located on the west side of Market Place. It is constructed of stucco with a slate roof and stands three storeys tall. The façade features bands and a diagonally placed brick eaves cornice. The building has three bays with cased sashes that include glazing bars. There is a carriage entrance at the south end. Attached to the hotel is a two-bay extension, which dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is actually part of No 17. This extension is made of colour-washed brick and also has a slate roof, standing two storeys high. It features a modillioned brick eaves cornice and sashes with glazing bars and keystones.
