Description

This raised graveslab, dating from around 1740, is located approximately 5 metres south of the nave of the Church of All Hallows. It is made of sandstone and features a moulded edge along with relief decorations of stylised foliage and flowers at the head. The slab commemorates Jane, the wife of Timothy Knight of High Hoyland, who passed away in 1740 at the age of 61. An inscription on the slab reads:

"Prepare oh mortals for a future state
Repent in time before it be too late
Death is a minute full of deadly sorrow
Then live to day as you may die to morrow."
