Description
The Church of St Mary is a church built between 1865 and 1866, with a late 20th-century addition, designed by J B and W Atkinson. It is constructed from sandstone and Westmorland slate and features a west tower, a four-bay nave with a south porch, and a two-bay chancel that includes a north vestry and a 20th-century parish room. The church is designed in the Geometric style. The three-stage tower has angle buttresses, and the west front includes a two-light window with a trefoil window and a relieving arch above it. Each face of the tower has twin belfry windows, and there is a spire atop the tower. The south porch features a pointed doorway of a single order on shafted responds. The nave has two-light windows, while the chancel has single-light windows and a three-light window at the east end. There are no notable internal features, and the 20th-century extension is not considered of special interest.
