Description

This is a milepost located opposite the main entrance to Strensall Camp, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Mattisons of Bedale. The milepost has a triangular shape with a sloping upper face and a semicircular rear face. The left side indicates that Strensall is 1 mile away, while the right side shows that York is 5 miles away. The sloping upper face is marked with "Flaxton RDC," and the rear face displays "North Riding of Yorkshire."
