Description

This is a row of four shops, now used as a museum and shop, built in the mid-19th century and restored in 1991. The building is constructed of pink and grey mottled brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with timber shopfronts and a bracketed eaves cornice. It has a slate roof and four brick ridge stacks.

The building has two storeys and an attic, with an 8-window front. A square carriage arch, now closed by a renewed iron gate, is located towards the right end. The shopfronts to numbers 8, 9 and 10 have been renewed, but retain elements from the original building, including an upstairs access door to number 9. The shopfront to number 10A features plain pilasters with elongated console capitals, a moulded dentilled cornice, and a panelled riser. An upstairs access door with four panels is located on the left side of the shopfront. All first-floor windows are 16-pane sashes, except for one 12-pane sash above the door to number 9, and all have cambered arches and painted stone sills. The attic windows are dormers with segmental gables and 4-pane sashes.

The interior of the building was not inspected during the listing process.
