Description
Orchard House is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations from the 19th century and renovations in the 20th century, including a new roof. It is constructed of rendered brick and has a pantile roof. The house features a 3-cell direct entry plan, which was probably originally a lobby entry, but the entrance has now been moved to the left side. It stands two storeys high and has four first-floor windows. The front has a six-fielded panel door set in a plain doorcase with a cornice supported by brackets, flanked by four-pane sash windows. To the right, there is a narrow two-pane sash window, likely originally a fire window, and another four-pane sash window. On the first floor, there is a band with four-pane sashes above. The house has stepped eaves, raised gable ends, and banded stacks at the left end and ridge. Inside, there is a closed string dogleg staircase with column and vase square-knop balusters, and a massive bressumer above the inglenook fireplace.
