Description

A terrace of five houses, numbers 13 to 17, dating from around 1825 and forming part of New Walk Terrace. The houses are constructed of mottled brick with rubbed red brick window arches, and have slate roofs. They are arranged over three storeys, with cellars beneath. Each house has two bays. The first and second floor windows are glazing bar sashes. Ground floor windows incorporate tripartite, bowed glazing bar sashes to the left, set into a slightly projecting brick panel beneath a plain entablature. Cellar windows are glazing bar sashes, except at number 14, which has French doors. Doorcases to numbers 13 to 16 feature fluted pilasters with palmette leaf capitals, and panelled reveals; those to numbers 14 to 16 have a fillet with dentils, while the doorcase to number 17 has engaged fluted Doric columns, a fluted frieze and panelled reveals. Overlights with geometrical glazing are present above the doorcases of numbers 13, 16 and 17. The doors to numbers 14, 16, and 17 have four raised and fielded panels above two flush panels. The door to number 13 has six raised and fielded panels, and the door to number 15 has margin-paned glazing above two panels. Chimneys are located to the left and right of each house, set both in front of and behind the ridge. The interior was not inspected. Number 13 was initially listed on 24 June 1983.
