Description
Garden Cottage is a house built around 1840, constructed of brick with a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features a south wall with three bays, each adorned with painted pointed brick arches above all openings. The left-hand bay contains window openings that have been blocked with brickwork. The windows are glazing bar sashes with arched heads, showcasing intersecting Gothick glazing. The door, located in the right-hand bay, has a fanlight that matches the windows and is surrounded by painted detailing. The door itself consists of six raised and fielded panels. To the left of this bay is a shallow brick pier, while a wider pier on the right terminates the right-hand return wall, which has a concave shape. The roof's verges extend slightly above the coping. The left-hand return gable wall, which faces New Walk and the River Ouse, also has projecting verges. The central section of this wall is bowed and features painted flat brick arches over glazing bar sashes with Gothick glazing. The interior has not been inspected.
