Description
No. 35 Bootham is a house that now serves as a guest house. It dates from the mid-18th century, with some remains from the mid-17th century and alterations from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a slate roof.
The exterior consists of three storeys and three bays. The facade includes two-storey bands and a modillion eaves cornice. The windows are sash style without glazing bars. The doorway, located in the left-hand bay, features a doorcase with reeded half-columns and console brackets that support a pediment above a fanlight. The door itself has six raised and fielded panels, and there is a chimney positioned near the centre of the ridge.
The interior has not been inspected, but it has been recorded by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England as having an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters, along with a 17th-century staircase that has been reset at the back of the house.
