Description
63 and 65 Lawrence Street are two houses with a shop, built around 1900. The buildings feature a sham timber-frame design above a brick structure and are topped with a Westmorland slate roof.
The exterior consists of two storeys plus an attic and is arranged in four bays. The two outer bays have sashed windows on the ground floor. The first floor is close-studded, with an ogee brace on the right, a rail, and a moulded bressumer. It features casement cross windows, with the upper panes being leaded. The right-hand bay includes a flat-roofed attic dormer with a casement window.
On the ground floor, there is a doorway to the right of the first bay, which has a cornice hood supported by brackets. The door has two glazed panels above two bolection-moulded panels. The second bay contains a shopfront flanked by pilasters, with a recessed doorway to the left of its window. The third bay features a wide cornice hood on brackets above a doorway with an ornate surround, including a lintel inscribed 'DILSTON HOUSE' and decorative elements such as foliage, swags, and drops. This door also has a glazed panel above two bolection-moulded panels. The eaves of the building are coved, and there are ridge chimneys to the right of the first bay and at the right end of the building. The interior has not been inspected.
