Description
No. 33 Parliament Street is a house with a shop, built between 1836 and 1839, featuring later alterations and 20th-century shopfronts. The building is constructed of pink-grey brick in Flemish bond, with window arches made of orange gauged brick, painted stone sill bands, and a moulded stone cornice and parapet. It has a hipped mansard roof covered in slate, which includes 2-light dormer windows and a brick stack.
The exterior consists of four storeys and an attic, with two bays facing Parliament Street and four bays on Jubbergate, flanking a curved corner bay. The alternate bays project forward, with the center bay on Jubbergate breaking twice and the left end being pilastered. The first-floor windows are either 1-pane or 12-pane sashes, featuring painted stone sills. The second floor has 12-pane sashes, with the corner window being tripartite, consisting of 8- and 4-pane sashes. The third floor has unequal 9-pane sashes, and the corner windows are curved. The interior has not been inspected.
