Description
No. 76 Low Petergate is a house that has been converted into a shop. The front section dates back to the 15th century, while the rear wing was added in the 16th century. There were alterations made in the early 19th century, including the shopfront, which has been updated with altered glazing, and a renovation in the 20th century. Both sections of the building are timber-framed, with the front range covered in stucco and a slate roof.
The exterior features a three-storey, two-bay front with jettied first and second floors. The first-floor jetty is shaped like a round arch on the left side, which frames a heavy, round-headed passage door with eight panels. The shopfront includes a shallow, five-light canted bay window with a moulded cornice, located to the left of a glazed and panelled door. The windows on the first and second floors are Yorkshire sashes, typically with two rows of six panes, except for one window on the first floor that has nine and fifteen panes. The interior has not been inspected.
