Description
The Constitutional Club is a mid-19th century building located on the north side of Market Place. It is two storeys high, constructed of yellow brick with a Welsh slate roof featuring a paired bracket eaves cornice. The building has brick rusticated quoins, and the first floor includes three windows with round arches, moulded stone, fluted keystones, and pilasters on the sides that have elaborate carved capitals. The windows are opening casements with small iron window guards and moulded cills. On the ground floor, there are three large round-headed openings with brick rustication and a stone keystone; two of these are windows, while the third is a doorway that features carved fielded panels and side panels, topped by a segmental fanlight. The ground floor is also finished in brick rustication. The Constitutional Club is part of a group that includes Nos 3, 4, 6, 7, and 10.
