Description
The walls enclosing the orchard, located approximately 130 metres east-south-east of Thornton Abbey Gatehouse, are a mix of medieval and later construction. The north wall is about 100 metres long and features a chamfered ashlar plinth that rises to four courses high, with the upper section made of limestone ashlar, squared chalk, brick, and tile, reaching up to eight courses high. There is a blocked or rebuilt section to the west, which continues as a grass-covered bank. The wall to the south is constructed from re-used squared limestone and ashlar.
