Description
Emperingham Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some later minor alterations and additions. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with brick dressings and is colour-washed. The roof is made of concrete pantiles and features brick stacks. The building has a two-room central entrance-hall plan and a later continuous outshut.
The cottage is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. The entrance consists of a six-flush-panel door, with the top two panels being glazed, set in a beaded frame beneath a timber lintel. This door is flanked by four-pane sliding sash windows with projecting sills, also beneath timber lintels. On the first floor, there are similar sliding sashes and a blind central panel. The eaves cornice is dentilled brick, and there are 19th-century end stacks. The interior has not been investigated.
