Description

Westcote Farmhouse is a late 18th-century brick farmhouse built for George Uppleby of Barrow Hall. The brickwork is in a Flemish bond pattern, and the roof is covered with pantiles. The plan consists of a 2-room central entrance hall facing the front, with a single room to the right, a continuous rear outshut, and a later extension to the right.

The two-storey, five-bay front has a symmetrical design with three bays on the left. A Doric doorcase frames a 6-fielded-panel door and a 4-pane overlight. This is flanked by 16-pane sash windows set within flush wooden architraves and wooden cills. A 6-panel door with a 4-pane overlight sits below a 20th-century casement window to the right of the front. The first floor has two similar casement windows to the right and 16-pane sash windows to the left. A stepped and cogged brick eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The gables have brick copings and tumbled verges. Axial and end stacks are present, with the stack to the right being a 20th-century rebuild.

Inside, the farmhouse features chamfered spine beams and a closed-string staircase with a moulded handrail and plain balusters.
