Description

This is an 18th-century manor house, originally a convent school, located in three distinct architectural sections. At the time of survey, the building was being altered and converted into separate properties. The left-hand section is three stories high with a modern hipped roof. It features three windows on each floor, set within surrounds on tabs, with long sash windows containing glazing bars. A central doorway is flanked by plain pilasters, topped with a frieze and cornice, and leads to a four-panel door beneath a five-light rectangular fanlight.

The central portion has a hipped roof of Welsh slate and four windows on each floor, also with long sash windows and glazing bars. A central doorway mirrors the previous one, with pilasters, frieze, and cornice, but has a more substantial moulded eaves cornice.

The right-hand section is two stories high, with one window above a door. The door is of four panels with a rectangular fanlight. A modern tile roof covers this section, and modern windows have been added to the rear elevation.

The interior has been significantly altered. The former Manor House Convent School is situated within a group of buildings, including numbers 40 to 42, that are considered to be of local interest.
