Description
The barn at Manor Farm, located 30 metres north-west of Low Field Cottage, dates from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with bands of hard squared limestone and red brick dressings, topped with a pantile roof. The barn stands two storeys high and has eight bays.
There is a plank stable door to the left of centre, set within a segmental-headed brick surround. To the left, there are three I-shaped vents, and to the right, four more, all with brick surrounds. The first floor features six similar openings and a plank door leading to a pitching hatch, which is also under a segmental brick arch. The barn has a stepped brick eaves cornice and a brick-coped gable on the right side. The right return includes three ground floor vents and a first-floor pitching hatch with a plank door. At the rear, there is a segmental-headed cart entrance.
Inside, the barn has tie beams and a clasped purlin roof. An adjoining wall of a partly-demolished range to the south is of no special interest.
