Description
Thorne Lodge is a mid-19th century estate house built for the Nelthorpe Estate, with minor 20th century additions at the rear. The building is constructed of brick and has a Welsh slate roof. It has a T-shaped layout, featuring a central entrance hall with two rooms and a kitchen wing at the back. The house is two storeys high and has two first-floor windows, arranged symmetrically.
The entrance is marked by a projecting enclosed gabled porch, which has a four-centred arch entrance, plain bargeboards with a drop finial, and an inner panelled door with a four-pane overlight set in an architrave. The windows are two-light mullioned sash windows with glazing bars, located beneath painted wooden hood-moulds. The eaves overhang, and there are partly projecting end stacks with brick bands and twin diamond-shafted corniced chimneys.
