Description
Life Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century, with later additions and alterations. It was constructed for Sir Christopher Sykes, 2nd Baronet, likely designed by him. The building is made of pinkish-brown brick in English garden wall bond and features a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays, with a three-course plinth. The corners are accentuated by coupled pilaster strips, with single strips between the bays. The central entrance consists of a six-fielded-panel door topped by a six-paned basket-arched overlight, set under a segmental head with recessed jambs. The windows are 16-pane sashes, all positioned under cambered arches made of gauged brick. The eaves are stepped and cogged, and the roof is hipped with a central stack. Inside, there is a staircase featuring a fretwork balustrade.
