Description

SNAITH AND COWICK MARKET PLACE SE 6422 (south side) 12/74 No 11 (formerly listed as 14.2.67 Nos 11 and 13) GV II House, now house and shop. Late C18 - early C19 with later C19 rear range; C20 alterations. Front of red brick in Flemish bond, brown brick to sides and rear; red bick to rear wing. L-shaped on plan: double-depth 2-room central entrance-hall front (front right now opened through to rear) with short wing and adjoining range to rear right. 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. Plinth. Entrance has recessed 6-panelled door beneath dentilled cornice and 3-pane overlight in architrave beneath channelled and keyed cambered wedge lintel. c1970 shop windows to each side. First floor: 16- pane sashes in flush wooden architraves with sills and channelled and keyed cambered wedge lintels. Dentilled brick eaves cornice. Axial stack, end stack to right. Rear: blocked ground-floor opening, round-headed stair window with glazing bars flanked by 12-pane sashes. Rear wing: 6-fielded- panel door, 12-pane sashes, tripartite sash with glazing bars. Interior: front range has moulded cornice and pair of arched alcoves to ground floor right; not fully investigated.
