Description
The altar tomb, dating from 1765 to 1800, is located approximately 10 metres south-east of the chancel of the Church of St Lawrence in Snaith. It is constructed of ashlar and slate and features three adjoining inscribed slabs on an inscribed base. The first slab is dedicated to Margaret Moore from 1800, with additional later inscriptions. The second slab, made of slate, commemorates Robert Moore, agent to Lord Viscount Downe, from 1798. The third slab is for Jane Furnise from 1765, also with additional later inscriptions. Additionally, there is an inscribed slab on the south side of the base for John Moore, dated around 1769, which includes further later inscriptions. The three top slabs display well-crafted inscriptions in distinctive styles.
