Description

A mid-18th century house with attached garden walls. The house is constructed of red brick with a concrete tile roof and stone coping to the garden walls. It is two storeys high and has a two-by-two bay arrangement. A 20th-century porch extension has been added to the right-hand side, featuring a sash window with glazing bars beneath a Diocletian window with sashes and glazing bars. The house displays a dentilled brick eaves cornice and a pyramidal roof with a central stack. The rear elevation displays a tablet with guttae and the Latin inscription: RUS AMAT, ET RAMOS FELICIA POMA FERENTES (He loves the countryside and boughs bearing apples in plenty). The attached garden walls, which are coped, originally formed part of the kitchen garden for the now-demolished Kilnwick Hall, encompassing an area of almost two acres.
