Description
The premises occupied by Burlington Carpet Warehouse was formerly the National School for Boys, built in 1829, and is noted as the first Board school in the area. The building is a tall single storey constructed of brown brick, featuring two flanking wings with hipped roofs and lion mask guttering, topped with dark pantiles. The front elevation includes one window in each wing, with rendered lintels carved to resemble brick. There are four windows on the south side and three on the north side, along with a large modern van entry. All windows are casements with glazing bars. The central section has four small windows with wooden lintels and glazing bars situated under the eaves. The roof is covered with Welsh slates. A plaque displaying the date is located above the modern double door, which is framed by brick voussoirs. There are also small rear extensions.
