Description

The Butcher's House and three adjoining houses to the east form a row of four houses dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with earlier origins and later additions and alterations. The house on the west is built of pinkish-yellow brick, while the others are constructed of pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond, all featuring pantile roofs. The layout consists of a double-range plan for the end houses.

These buildings are two storeys high, with the western house having seven first-floor windows, while the house to the east has one first-floor window, and the others have two. The early 19th-century house on the west has a central plank door beneath a blocked overlight with decorative glazing bars and a flat arch, flanked by 16-pane sash windows, which are set below cambered brick arches on the ground floor.

The two central houses have identical facades, with two steps leading to a plank door beneath a divided overlight and a flat arch, accompanied by a 16-pane sash window to the left, also beneath a similar arch. Above, there is a similar window and a blocked painted window over the door. The house to the east features a plank door beneath a segmental arch to the left, with a large 6-pane shop window below a frieze and hood to the right, and a central 16-pane sash window above. The roof is set at two levels, with ridge and end stacks. At the time of the resurvey, only the Butcher's House at the west end was occupied.
