Description
The Manor House is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, which was remodeled in the late 19th century. It features rendered coursed chalk rubble with stone dressings, brick stacks, and a concrete tile roof. The building has a central direct entry and a rear wing added in the 19th century. It is two storeys high.
On the rear elevation, there is a chamfered plinth and massive stone quoins. The ground floor has two 3-light square-headed windows with double chamfered surrounds and mullions, which have been altered and blocked. The first floor has a similar 2-light window that remains unaltered but is also blocked. The eaves are sprocketed with plain close verges, and there are axial and end stacks. The front and side elevations, which conceal the earlier work, are not considered to be of special interest. Notably, Queen Henrietta Maria is recorded to have stayed here on 5 March 1643.
