Description

Eastgate House is a late 18th-century house located in East Street, Kilham. The house is constructed of brick, now rendered, with a timber eaves cornice and pantiled roofs. It has a central entrance with later extensions to the rear. The symmetrical front elevation features two storeys and attics, with three bays. A plinth rises to a single step, flanked by sunken boot-scrapers, leading to a six-panel door under a fanlight with radial glazing bars set within panelled reveals. The doorcase features fluted pilasters and roundels supporting an entablature. The ground floor windows are 16-pane sashes with sills. The first floor has a sash with glazing bars and a sill over the door, flanked by further 16-pane sashes with sills. A prominent eaves cornice features paired brackets. The house has end stacks and raised, coped gables with kneelers.
