Description

Dringhoe Hall is a farmhouse, likely dating from the mid to late 17th century, with later additions and alterations, including 20th-century renovations and a range to the rear. The house is constructed of pinkish-red brick in an English garden wall bond, with a pantile roof. It is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays, with a single-storey, single-bay range attached to the right. A 12-course plinth is visible, along with remnants of rubbed brick copings on the right side. The front entrance is a 20th-century double-glazed door within a reeded architrave. To the left of the entrance is an 8-pane casement window with a round header arch. A late 20th-century 12-pane tripartite sash window sits under a wedge lintel. Remains of a rubbed brick band are visible above the first floor. The outer bays feature 12-pane tripartite sash windows, and the central bay has an 8-pane casement, all under wedge cement lintels. A modillion eaves band runs along the top of the building. Brick copings are present. A brick ridge and end stack is visible. Tumbled-in brickwork defines the gable ends. The left gable shows evidence of former wide, square openings, with a casement window now set within a segmental arch. A 54-pane, 3-light Yorkshire sash window is located on the first floor of the right gable end, alongside a partly-blocked pitching door. The range to the right has a casement window. Inside, an exposed elliptical arch from a former inglenook fireplace is visible on the rear wall to the left. A chamfered beam with run-out stops is present on the ground floor to the right.
