Description

Nos 25 and 27 Railway Street are a pair of houses built around 1847, likely designed by G.T. Andrews as crossing keepers' houses. They are constructed from brown and red brick with slate roofs and stand two storeys tall with four bays, featuring projecting end bays and a side entry. The houses have a chamfered plinth. On the ground floor, there is a small 20th-century window at the re-entrant angle of No 27, next to a two-pane sash window to the left, while the rest of the ground floor features sash windows with glazing bars, all set under slightly segmental gauged brick arches. The first floor has similar windows. The eaves overhang, and there are twin-flue axial stacks.
