Description

Swan Cottage is a late 18th-century house that was extended and given Gothic detailing in the mid-19th century, with later alterations in the 20th century. The house is constructed of brick, rendered and colour-washed, with a pantiled roof. It has an irregular plan, with a single storey and attic space over the central range. The building faces the street with a central gable flanked to the right by a recessed single-bay range containing a lean-to porch and to the left by a slightly recessed lean-to extension. The porch has a 20th-century boarded door set within a pointed, chamfered opening, itself sheltered by a raised coped gable with brick kneelers. To the left of the porch are two two-light sliding sash windows, and to the far left, a single oblong window, all with latticed glazing and all set beneath 20th-century timber hoodmoulds. The attic floor has a single two-light sliding sash window with a matching hoodmould under the gable. Side wall stacks are present on the main range, each with a raised coped gable on brick kneelers.
