Description
The K8 telephone kiosk, designed by Bruce Martin and introduced in 1968, is located at the junction of Main Street and Meaux Road in Wawne, near the late 18th-century house at 4 Main Street and St Peter’s Church.
This kiosk features a square plan and is set on a concrete base. It consists of six cast iron parts and an aluminium door. Three sides, including the door, are fitted with large sheets of toughened glass held in rectangular frames with rounded corners. The rear panel has a blind rectangular frame with rounded corners, below which is an attached cast iron plaque that reads CARRON / COMPANY in relief letters. The flat roof dome has rectangular framed signage panes, also with rounded corners, each displaying the word TELEPHONE on a white background. The kiosk is painted cream.
