Description
No 1 Market Place is a building dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is three storeys high, constructed of brick, and features a pantile roof with coped gable ends and brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has two windows on the upper floors, which are hung sashes with glazing bars and rusticated lintels. The ground floor includes a bowed shop window with glazing bars, a central half-glazed door with a three-light rectangular fanlight above it, and a right-hand shop window that has a canted bay beneath an old cornice. No 1 is part of a group that includes No 5, Nos 7 to 10 (consecutive), Nos 12 to 23 (consecutive), and No 25A, with No 5 being of local interest.
